About Me

Hello there! My name is Marcos Mitroglou, and I’m the writer behind Elephant in Vancouver.

I’m a freelance journalist with over 30 years of experience in the field, and I’ve spent much of my career chasing stories, sharing perspectives, and doing my best to bring clarity and context to the world around us.

From Melbourne to Vancouver

About a decade ago, I made a big life move—from Melbourne, Australia, to Vancouver, Canada.

Looking back, I can say without hesitation: it was the best decision I ever made. Vancouver welcomed me with open arms and endless inspiration.

It’s a city full of nature, energy, and surprises, and it has so much to offer—especially for newcomers.

Why I Started This Site

As someone who’s both lived here for a while and still sees the city with fresh eyes, I felt I had something valuable to share.

That’s what led me to create Elephant in Vancouver. This is my space to reflect, observe, and offer my two cents on life in this incredible city.

Whether you’re new to Vancouver, thinking about making the move, or just curious about what makes it tick, I hope my writing helps you see this city through a thoughtful lens.

What You’ll Find Here

This site is part journal, part guide, and fully personal. I write about:

  • The quirks and beauty of Vancouver
  • Life as an expat and how to adapt
  • Local stories that deserve more attention
  • Observations, tips, and a bit of storytelling

I don’t claim to have all the answers—but I do have a journalist’s curiosity, and I’m always eager to explore and share what I find.

Let’s Stay Connected

Thanks for stopping by. If anything I write sparks a thought, a question, or a friendly hello, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Elephant in Vancouver is more than just a platform for me, it’s a conversation.

See you around!
